Help, I keep ripping the crotch of my pants. The only pants I haven't ripped are my Pure Blue Japans. However, they are too casual for the job I do. I need pants that go with a dress shirt in a smart casual setting but with a crotch that can withstand a beating, preferably gusseted. I know about Outlier, Western Rise, Prana and all of that, but they are expensive and/or not in Australia. My budget is 150 AUD (<100usd) per pair.

Ah the blown crotch issue. Strangly enough, one of the few pairs of pants that never had this issue for me
was a pair of Dockers 5 pocket jean cut pants. No gusset, but I think the 2% spandex reduces pull on the area.
This was the first pair of pants that I first started to consider that a little stretch was a good thing.

I like ArborWear.

I run a pair of WillowFlex pants for work and hiking when I dont need something lighter or more water resistant. Love them.
They are 10oz, 95%cotton, 5% spandex, darted/articulated knees, 7 belt loop, gusseted crotch. Very durable and mobile.

Short of the issue that they are not treated, and cotton, I consider them the WindCheater of pants. They also have a bootcut leg and thigh pockets so they do have a bit more of a work pant look than you may be looking for.

Vertx Delta stretch is in the same vein, I like these a lot also. Gusseted crotch, 7 belt loop, darted knees, a little bit of stretch.
Leg cut is slimmer at the boot. Does have thigh slots for knives or tool, but they lay flat and are not noticeable. These are my 'fancy' arborwear upgrades.

I recently bought a pair of RevTown Denim jeans to try. No articulated knees, and no gusset, I would prefer more belt loops.
But they seem durable, and are very mobile. I was impressed. The cotton/poly/stretch blend they use is well thought out and I think will have decent longevity.

Something from the Mountain Khakis line might also work for you

I have been pretty darn happy with the pants from Duluth Trading I have tried. They all have a gusseted crotch and I tend to stick to the pants with some small stretchy percentage.

Check out 5.11 they have some nice pants. I wear the APEX pants, they aren't to tactical looking and the thigh pockets have pockets in them!

Another vote for Arborwear. I've been wearing them for a decade. Great pants - durable and allow for lots of mobility.
