New Holster Idea for Kit Bag
Modified By goteron on 12/17/2011 7:43:30 PM)

I made this holster to keep the gun from shifting up and down while running. Plus I have an APEX FSS kit in the gun, and no kydex covering the trigger guard just makes me nervous. It doesnt prevent drawing at any angle (Like a vanguard), but holds the gun fast agaisnt the bottom of the bag and greatly reduces shifting. Before anyone says anything, yes I suck at kydex, but this works OK... I cut a small slot in the holster to slide into the loop at the bottom to keep it secure.

Thoughts?

So far it reduces the movement of the gun by about 80%, I have a few more ideas to reduce that even further.

Thanks

Re: New Holster Idea for Kit Bag

that's a really neat looking setup. As Scot said, probably the best looking holster for a Kit Bag we've seen. I haven't noticed the pistol shifting when running myself, but now I'm thinking I need to rig some kind of holster in to see if I notice any difference.

Re: New Holster Idea for Kit Bag

Thanks, I noticed a big difference with movement when running. I think I may modify the kit bag by putting in a grommet in the bottom of the pistol area with a grommet and using some shock cord with an adjustable clamp thingy on the outside. That way I can put some tension on the holster. I will probably do the same with the main pocket for use in securing a knife sheath as well.

That holster looks good to me. I don't know what you're saying about not knowing what you're doing with Kydex. Let us know how your research goes as this is pertains to everyone that has been looking to do this.

Very nice, I hadn't thought of this method.  I was thinking a velcro backed custom kydex with a thin strip of velcro.  I want to carry a G26 and it's small enough to move around some.
